2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix WTA 500 Preview!

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed when the ladies of the WTA Tour descend on Stuttgart, Germany, for the 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix WTA 500.
Defending champion Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the event, but several, including World No. 2 Iga Swiatek, No. 3 Coco Gauff, and No. 4 Jessica Pegula, will look to win the 500 WTA points and a brand new Porsche.
Read on as I preview the 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, beginning Monday, April 14.
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Main Draw

Past Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Champions in the Main Draw
Iga Swiatek (2022, 2023)
Laura Siegemund (2017)
Can Sabalenka win her Maiden Porsche Tennis Grand Prix?
I’m not sure Aryna Sabalenka will win the 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, but she has the draw to make it happen. Hard-hitting Clara Tauson might bother her a bit in the second round, as will likely quarterfinal opponent Diana Shnaider. Her potential semifinal against either Coco Gauff or Jasmine Paolini is popcorn stuff.
Swiatek’s Tricky Road to Third Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Title
Two-time champion Iga Swiatek could either win this event or fail to make it to the latter stages. She’s in the same quarter as longtime nemesis Jelena Ostapenko (0-5 lifetime), but outside of that potential landmine, Swiatek has a winnable draw. Her semi against either Jessica Pegula or Mirra Andreeva is likely the only thing standing in her way from winning her third Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Title.
Don’t Sleep on These Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Dark Horses
Coco Gauff hasn’t gotten off to the best 2025, but she has a good draw with the game to win here. Her potential quarterfinal with Jasmine Paolini would lean Paolini on this surface, but she’s 2-0 lifetime against the Italian No. 1. The winner of this quarterfinal must beat Sabalenka, but of the two, I would side with Coco.
Paolini is coming off a tremendous 2024, but has some niggling injuries she’s still working through. Paolini hasn’t played since her semifinal run in Miami was cut short by Sabalenka. She has a tricky first-rounder with dangerous Wild Card Eva Lys-Lys reached the second week in Melbourne as a qualifier. If she advances, its likely Gauff in the quarters.
Charleston Open champ Jessica Pegula has a good shot to advance to the quarters, but that’s when things might get dicey for the American. Teen sensation Mirra Andreeva potentially awaits in that quarter, but Andreeva must get there first.
Andreeva has a tricky road to that quarter. She opens with always dangerous Marta Kostyuk, and if she advances, would meet the winner of Ekaterina Alexandrova/Liudmila Samsonova and both women can give Andreeva a go. Then Pegula and that matchup should be a difficult one for both ladies.
Emma Navarro has a decent draw, and could make a run to the quarters. She opens with vet Beatriz Haddad Maia with the latter on a six-match losing streak. Navarro is 0-2 against Swiatek and it would take a Herculean feat in order to overtake Iga on the dirt.
2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Prediction
This tournament is Swiatek’s to win.
Swiatek hasn’t won a tournament since her 2024 Roland Garros victory over Paolini, and she must be chomping at the bit to win her first title in nearly one year.
Her potential matchup with nemesis Ostapenko aside, Swiatek has a good draw that she should be able to navigate without too many speed bumps.
Her main challenger will likely be Sabalenka or Gauff. The No. 1 is coming off a confidence building Miami Open title, but Sabalenka is only 1-5 across the past six clay court meetings against her Polish rival.
Gauff has yet to win a title, but she’s the best athlete on tour. She’s 49-19 lifetime on the dirt but hasn’t reached a clay court final since her 2022 Roland Garros loss to Swiatek. Their last five H2H meetings on the dirt have been one-way Swiatek traffic, and a Stuttgart final between the two would likely end the same way.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek
